Aerospace Materials Division

The Norton Aerospace Materials Division specialises in the stockholding and processing of raw materials for the aerospace and defence industries. Our products include:

  • Steel
  • Aluminium
  • Titanium
  • Nickel
  • Brass

We stock a wide range of metals in all forms and sizes for immediate delivery. This includes metals to British, European and American specifications, including BS, DTD, EN, LN, ASTM, QQ, MIL, & AMS, in bar, sheet, plate and tubing.

We also supply to customer specifications and requirements and cut to size. We can also supply to customer specific heat treated conditions.

Aerospace Aluminium

Alloy Range: - 2xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx

Extruded  Round Bars:  Ranging from 20mm ~ 300mm

Cast Billets: Ranging from 178mm ~ 965mm

Sheets/Plates/Bars:

We stock a wide range of aerospace aluminium sheet/plate/bar in specifications suitable for most of the current and former aircraft build programmes. Both national and aircraft manufacturer's proprietary specifications are stocked in a wide range of types and sizes. All stock items can be cut to size and machined to reduce waste and lower costs. For sheets, all items can be PVC coated - one or both sides to ensure its surface quality is maintained throughout the production process. For bars, lengths of 3 m or 4 m are normally stocked .We also stock items in special lengths to suit individual customer needs.

Tubes:

Tubes up to 6 m in length are stocked and a variety of sizes are held, the majority are 3 m long

Aerospace Titanium

Titanium: Bars/Sheets/Plates

We stock titanium in both commercially pure and alloyed forms.

Commercially pure titanium can be readily forged, formed, welded, etc., by most of the processes conventionally used for the stainless steels, which it resembles in many mechanical and chemical respects.

The most common and widely used titanium alloy in the aerospace industry is Ti-6Al-4V, which is used for applications requiring higher strength and corrosion resistance.

Sheets& Plates:

Thicknesses from 0.41 mm to 152.4 mm & Standard sizes are 1 m x 2 m.

Bars:

Standard sizes range from 8 mm to 200 mm diameter

Available specifications:

AMS 4906,4911,4920,4928,4965,4965, MIL-T-9047, WL3.7164/5 AMS  4918,4936,4971,4978,4979

Aerospace Nickel

Nickel Alloy Bars/Sheets

In conditions, where the corrosion and heat resistance of steels and other metals are exhausted, high performance alloys including Nickel become the designer's material of choice.

Alloys & Specifications Available:

  • Alloy 25 – BS HR40 / KC20WN / MSRR 7052
  • Alloy 75 – BS HR5 / NC20T / MSRR 7004
  • Alloy 80A – BS HR1 / NC20TA / MSRR 7011
  • Alloy 90 – BS HR2 / NCK20TA / MSRR7137
  • Alloy C263 – BS HR10 / AMS 5886 / NCK20D / MSRR 7035
  • Alloy 625 – AMS 5666 / AMS 5599
  • Alloy 718 – AMS 5662 / AMS 5663 / AMS 5596 / MSRR 7115
